04. 88 taro Four WORLDS

The fifth imago, Giano (Janus), is the God of the Hinges of the Doors. He holds in his hand a key which represents his principle role governing time, and as door-keeper of the year. The doors of his temple were opened to the population in times of war , and closed  in times of peace (hence the soldiers shown in the Imago above).

More is explained in download or book TARO of the Four Worlds about this Important deity and its relation to the preceding imago, 4/88 Two Lights (or “Hidden Sun”). I argue that the Pope or Hierophant trump of the later 22 Taro series is based upon this imago.
